¡Hola ¡Bienvenidos a la clase de español!
We have a very busy and exciting year in store for us!
My name is Julie Gibson and I am the Spanish teacher at Holy Rosary School. My goal is to give students a foundation for exploring and understanding Spanish-speaking cultures and peoples. Through completing fun and engaging activities, students will employ critical thinking skills as they compare the Spanish language and its cultures with those of their own community. They will also connect to other academic subjects, such as math, science, and language arts, using their knowledge of Spanish to access new information. Students are often placed into Spanish II when entering High School as their foundation in Spanish at Holy Rosary School provides them with the skills taught in Spanish I.
Learning to speak another language will open doors for your student in the future. He/she will use these language skills in their professional and personal life. Studying another language will not only improve skills in their English language but also improve their skills in other subject areas. This will open opportunities to understand other points of view, appreciate customs and behaviors different from their own. They will also be more competitive in their future academic or professional endeavors.
I consider it a great privilege and responsibility to be your child’s Spanish teacher and I am looking forward to working with your child this upcoming school year. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or would like to know more about the curriculum or expectations.
Nos vemos pronto.
